At a meeting at the Dead Sea itself, the New7Wonders President and Founder Bernard Weber and New7Wonders Director Jean-Paul de la Fuente met with Friends of the Earth Middle East, including representatives of the three countries of Israel, Jordan and Palestine, to discuss the aligned interests of promoting the Dead Sea as a Finalist in the New7Wonders of Nature.
Bernard Weber said, “New7Wonders and Friends of the Earth Middle East share the same nature-without-borders vision for the Dead Sea, and will continue to work together to ensure that positive and active participation in the New7Wonders of Nature will help foster dialogue and collaboration around natural and environmental objectives.”
He added, “Friends of the Earth Middle East are doing what governments should be doing and that is to promote Dead Sea together. People from the three countries want to see this done by their governments, but their governments cannot be seen working with each other because of internal politics.”
