The New York Times presents the New Seven Wonders of the World in 360 video

Chichén Itzá was an ancient Maya city that eventually became part of the Maya-Toltec civilization.
Chichén Itzá was part of the Maya-Toltec civilization. It is also one of the New 7 Wonders of the World.

“Experience these majestic sites during moments of solitude in 360 video,” is how The New York Times introduced readers to its interactive feature titled The New Seven Wonders of the World’, which was compiled by Veda Shastri, Guglielmo Mattioli and Kaitlyn Mullin.

“Built on four continents, most by ancient and medieval empires, the sites selected in 2007 are all architectural marvels of enormous scale — and are among the most visited tourist attractions in the world,” went the text that highlighted the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, Petra, the Colosseum, Christ the Redeemer, Chichén Itzá and Machu Picchu.

Note: 360-degree videos are shot using an omni-directional camera or a collection of cameras and a view in every direction is recorded at the same time. During playback, the user experiences a panorama effect by controlling the viewing direction.
