Today’s Google Doodle celebrates the 37th Anniversary of Komodo National Park, which was elected one of the New7Wonders of Nature on 11 November 2011. The search engine is also offering an interactive quiz to test people’s knowledge about the park’s most famous inhabitant: the Komodo dragon.
The quiz is highlighted by Sidomi News in its coverage of the doodle: “Di mana lokasi Taman Nasional Komodo? Pertanyaan itulah yang bakal muncul di benak pengguna internet mengingat hari ini Senin, 6 Maret 2017, Google merayakan hari ulang tahun taman tersebut. Istimewanya, Google tidak hanya menampilkan animasi komodo. Tetapi juga membuat kuis edisi khusus untuk Anda yang tertantang beradu pengetahuan soal hewan langka ini. Tertarik?”
And this is how the Indonesia news site, Inilah.com, reported the news of the doodle: “Raksasa internet Google merayakan hari jadi yang ke-37 Taman Nasional Komodo dengan menghadirkan sebuah doodle spesial di halaman depan mesin pencarinya.”
Although Komodo National Park was created to protect the life of the 5,700 Komodo dragons who live there, it is also home to the Timor deer, which is the main source of food for the dragon. As Google says, “Thanks to National Parks like Komodo, wildlife can continue to thrive largely uninterrupted by human interference. Here’s to the Komodo dragon and Komodo National Park’s 37th year!”
Note: A Google Doodle is a special, temporary alteration of the logo on Google’s homepage that is intended to celebrate holidays, events, achievements, people and places.
