South Korean President Lee Myungbak voted for New7Wonders of Nature Finalist Jeju Island while visiting the city of Kwangju for the 2011 Regional Development Week convention. The president cast his vote using a newly-developed touch screen interface that has been developed with an eye on the marketing and advertising sectors. Representatives of the Jeju Government attending the convention in Kwangju showcased the technology to promote their region’s strengths.
After voting, President Lee Myung-Bak also urged all the ministers and governors attending the convention to vote for Jeju, and he encouraged all Koreans to vote in the New7Wonders of the Nature campaign.
Later, Lee sampled beer brewed in Jeju using the island’s spring water and its own baekho barley. He said that the beer would be very popular when it comes to market in April next year.
