Dear Wonderful Friends

Please accept my warmest wishes at the start of the New Year. In 2017, let us all adopt the New7Wonders positive vision of life, and inspired by this, we can work together to build a more harmonious and just world.

Undoubtedly, the highlight of our past 12 months was the Official Inauguration of La Habana as one of the New7Wonders Cities. In the presence of Havana City Historian, Dr. Eusebio Leal, the president of the People’s Power Provincial Assembly in the Cuban capital, Marta Hernandez, said: “Our city is part of the most significant material culture heritage of the nation and it represents a substantial part of the historical memory with extraordinary architectural and urban values.”

Our upcoming projects are intended to celebrate the past and extend the New7Wonders vision to the future. On 7 July, we will commemorate the tenth anniversary of the Declaration of the New7Wonders of the World, and I want to surround the celebration with happiness and relevance. Very soon, I will be announcing specific details about this event and a related initiative that will establish the idea of “wonders” as a fixed date in the annual calendar. As well, I am working on a project designed to place the noble concept of “peace” at the centre of public, global debate and I am confident that you will share my optimism about this initiative.

To our partners, to whom we owe much, I express my gratitude. To all those who, through their work, have contributed to the growth of the New7Wonders movement, I hope that our combined efforts will be further rewarded in 2017.

So, to each of you, I say: Happy New Year!
