Celebrations planned for Official Inauguration of Iguazu Falls

The Government of Misiones Province, the Argentine Ministry of Tourism and the country’s National Parks Administration will play central roles in the celebrations that begin today to mark the Official Inauguration of Iguazu Falls as one of the New7Wonders of Nature. The events will be attended by a team from New7Wonders led by Founder-President Bernard Weber, and delegations representing the confirmed and provisional New7Wonders of Nature: Amazon, Ha Long Bay, Jeju Island, Komodo Island, Puerto Princesa Underground River and Table Mountain.

Because the candidacy of Iguazu Falls was shared jointly by Argentina and Brazil and inauguration ceremonies will take place in both Puerto Iguazú in Argentina and Foz do Iguaçu in Paraná state, Brazil. The celebrations will culminate on Saturday evening with a concert and the unveiling of a specially-cast bronze plaque commemorating the listing of Iguazu Falls as one of the New7Wonders of Nature.
