Gillian Chung and Charlene Choi have been picked by
Tourism Tropical North Queensland to promote the region’s beauty to Australia’s fastest-growing tourist market: China.
The two megastars, known in Asia as the “Twins”, of Canto-pop will appear in social media and TV campaigns promoting the Great Barrier Reef, one of the 28 Official Finalists in the New7Wonders of Nature campaign.
“The Twins have already come over to Cairns to shoot their new music videos and have done photo shoots for their online photo album,” Vicki Tang, Tourism Tropical North Queensland sales and marketing manager for China, told CNNGo. “There will be a TV program that will debut the girls’ experience in the region as they work on their videos.”
When asked how the Twins partnership would benefit Queensland, Tang replied that along with attracting more tourists from China, the venture “will inspire people to vote for the Great Barrier Reef.” She added that the the Twins will appear in social media and TV campaigns promoting the Great Barrier Reef will also be giving their fans updates on China’s Twitter-like site Weibo “to promote their experiences in the Great Barrier Reef region.”
On Wednesday, 18 May, the Twins will officially launch their new music video and promote their 10th anniversary via a video conference from Shenzhen in China.
