Mona Al Mansouri designs a Bu Tinah dress

This is going to be a year of major events. In April, Prince William will marry Kate Middleton, and in November the Official New7Wonders of Nature will be revealed to the world. Weddings and nature are two of the big 2011 themes and seems both were on Mona Al Mansouri’s mind when she created an evening dress that had its debut earlier this week at the Abu Dhabi Bride Show.

The spectacular creation features motifs from the natural wealth found in Bu Tinah Island, one of the 28 Official Finalists in New7Wonders of Nature campaign. In her dress, Al Mansouri paid tribute to the island’s unique habitat and species; its coral reefs, sea turtles and the dugong, a gentle dolphin-like creature that grazes on sea grass.

The dress that reflects the beauty of Bu Tinah Island is also an encouragement to people to keep voting for Bu Tinah. “It purely seeks every citizen’s genuine support to vote for Bu Tinah as a wonder of nature,” Al Manssouri told The Gulf Today.
