During a banquet in Jakarta to celebrate the final New7Wonders of Nature Official Inauguration ceremony, the specially-designed plaque listing Komodo National Park in the “canon of 7” was presented by Bernard Weber, Founder-President of New7Wonders, to Jusuf Kalla, former Vice President of Indonesia and Chief Ambassador and Head of the Komodo Official Support Committee.
In the coming weeks, Jusuf Kalla will hand over the plaque to Joko Widodo, Governor of Jakarta. It will then be installed in a prominent position in the Indonesian capital. The exact location will be announced at a later date.
The cycle of New7Wonders of Nature Official Inauguration ceremonies, which began in April last year in the Philippines, is now complete. In alphabetical order, the New7Wonders of Nature are: Amazon, Halong Bay, Iguazu Falls, Jeju Island, Komodo, Puerto Princesa Underground River and Table Mountain.
