Bu Tinah website revamped

The Environment Agency-Abu Dhabi (EAD) recently held a Bu Tinah-themed event for its staff, which was led by EAD’s Secretary General, H.E Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak. Staff were given a sneak peak of the revamped Bu Tinah website, and were presented with special Bu Tinah mobile phone covers after voting via SMS for the island to become one of the New7Wonders of Nature.

The site comes with an interactive map to illustrate the Island's geographic location.

The website now includes more detailed information on the seven species that call Bu Tinah their home. These include: Coral Reefs, Mangroves, Hawksbill Turtles, Dugongs, Dolphins, Ospreys and Socotra Cormorants. Through the website, the public is updated on campaign developments and is shown how they can support the campaign. EAD has also added an interactive map to illustrate the Island’s geographic location. Since the launch of www.BuTinah.ae, more than 70,000 people from 137 countries have visited the website to learn more about the island, its inhabitants and EAD’s efforts to protect it.

“Bu Tinah Island is the only finalist in this competition that represents the Gulf region, and is an example of the incredibly beautiful and precious natural heritage that the previous generations have left us,” said H.E. Razan Khalifa Al Mubarak. “It is because of efforts to protect it that Bu Tinah now finds itself in the final run of the New 7 Wonders of Nature competition. When people vote for Bu Tinah, it sends a clear message that they care about preserving our natural heritage and protecting our environment. By simply voting via SMS, our community is playing a part in maintaining the Island and its surrounding waters in a natural and healthy state. We’re grateful to all those who have voted so far and hope they continue to spread the word.”
