On 7 July 2007, after more than 100 million votes had been cast worldwide, the Official Declaration of the New7Wonders of the World took place in Lisbon, Portugal. Actresses Hilary Swank and Bipasha Basu and actor Ben Kingsley hosted the ceremonies in the city’s Benfica Stadium and read out the seven names: The Great Wall of China, Petra, Chichén Itzá, the Statue of Christ Redeemer, the Colosseum, Machu Picchu and the Taj Mahal. The New 7 Wonders are all equal — there is no rank among the list. Relive the excitement of 7.7.7 by watching this 21-minute video of the ceremony highlights.
