In a story titled “Bu Tinah, Abu Dhabi’s secret nature reserve“, CNN’s Sara Sidner pointed out that the island “is in the running to become one of the world’s New Seven Wonders of Nature.” In fact, it is “one of only three wonders in the Middle East to make a short list of 28. It faces some stiff competition from around the world including the Grand Canyon in the United States and the The Great Barrier Reef off the coast of Australia.”
The island’s extraordinary biodiversity is what makes it a natural wonder in a category of its very own. Nesting osprey coexist with groups of pink flamingo, while flying fish skip across the ocean’s surface around the island.
