Puerto Rico’s Eastern area offers breathtaking scenery and invigorating attractions. Among them is El Yunque National Forest one of the 28 Finalists in the Official New7Wonders of Nature global election.
As pointed out in a current feature on PGATour.com, “El Yunque is one of the most accessible rainforests in the world and the only rainforest in the U.S. National Forest System. It is also, the only tropical rainforest system from North and Central America and the Caribbean officially selected for the competition.” El Yunque hosts a huge number of fascinating flora and wildlife. The elfin or “dwarf” forest high in the clouds on the Luquillo Mountains is a mysterious-feeling place full of life—such as the rare, endangered Puerto Rican parrot and tiny coquis tree frogs that sing in the evening.
