The gala Declaration of The Official New 7 Wonders of the World was held on the largest temporary stage in the world. More world records to come.
Remember, there is already one world record!
The first world record that New7Wonders made was noted by John Zogby, founder and President/CEO of the Washington-based polling organization Zogby International, when the New7Wonders Foundation held “the largest poll on record” with the election of The Official New 7 Wonders of the World, that were declared on the 7th of July 2007 in Lisbon.
Now, there is another world record, documented by the illustrious Guinness Book: the gala Declaration of the New 7 Wonders was held on the largest temporary stage in the world.
Hosts Hilary Swank, Bipasha Basu and Ben Kingsley must have had an idea when they stepped on the enormous stage Lisbon’s Benfica Stadium last year. Covering an incredible 7,276 square meters, the stage seemed to fill the bottom of the Portugal’s renowned Estádio da Luz. It provided an appropriately vast space for the spectacular show featuring artists like Jennifer Lopez, Jose Carreras, Chaka Khan, Dulce Pontes and prominent New7Wonders supporters that included Neil Armstrong, footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, balloonist Bertrand Piccard and many official representatives of the 21 candidates for the New 7 Wonders of the World.
Guinness World Records Ltd. recently awarded New7Wonders and their Portuguese partner Realizar Impact Marketing the official certificate for the largest temporary stage ever built. More world records to come
New7Wonders has blazed many trails with first-ever achievements. The first New7Wonders campaign was the first-ever global election, getting more than 100 million votes via the first global voting platform ever created. The election of The Official New 7 Wonders of the World also created 7 symbols of mankind, or Global Memory — for the first time, humankind now shares 7 things that everyone on our planet can remember.
Even more is still to come: 1 billion votes are expected in the current New7Wonders of Nature campaign, which will culminate in what will surely be another world-record-making New7Wonders of Nature declaration event in 2011.
