Yushan reaching out to Japan and Italy

In this era of social and global networking, Chen Lung-sheng, director of the Yushan National Park Administration, has decided to reach out. His idea is that Yushan will work with sister national parks in Japan and Italy to ensure a greater international profile and, of course, get more votes in the race to be one of the New7Wonders of Nature.

To get those votes, Yushan is emphasizing the role that the mobile phone now plays in society. According to Taiwan Today: “The park noted that besides being able to cast votes on the Internet, people can also send in their votes via text message. A park official said that, aside from arranging with local telecom operators to provide preferential text messaging rates for those using their cell phones to cast votes, they are also holding a drawing for prizes to attract more votes.

The park has set up places to cast votes at various tourist destinations around Taiwan, as well as assigning personnel to assist people in voting in the park’s visitor centers. People are encouraged to cast their vote to support Yushan at the New Seven Wonders of the World website via the park’s website.”
